Our Veterinarians

Dr. Evan Bell

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Bell moved to the Ottawa area in 2015 after graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College, and he has since found his new home in the city. He has always shared an interest in animals and when he started to develop a love for biology and medicine, becoming a veterinarian was the obvious choice.

Outside of the clinic, volleyball has occupied a large portion of his free time. Having been a part of the University of Guelph Men’s volleyball team for a time, he now continues to play and coach players of all ages in the community.

As an avid traveller, he has visited four continents and lived abroad in two other countries doing veterinary work on everything from kangaroos to dogs, and even bats and tigers! When he is not keeping active, or playing board games, he is planning his next adventure.

Dr. Bell’s goal as a veterinarian is to make the complicated stuff simple. He has spent a lot of time working as a public speaker and an educator and uses these skills every day to help his clients. He also currently holds a position with the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association as a regional board member, was a founding member of their Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) panel, and now is working with the Ottawa Humane Society as an advisor for their Accessible Care Committee.

Dr. Bell is also proud to offer canine reproduction services to Eastern Ontario. With almost a decade of experience under his belt, advanced certification with PennHIP, and the ability to perform a TCI (transcervical insemination) he is very excited to work with local breeders and kennel clubs to help facilitate your breeding goals. Lastly, he is not one to shy away from learning new skills. He is currently finishing his certification in canine rehabilitation to improve his ability to diagnose and treat lameness (limping) and orthopedic issues.

Dr. Chris Elder

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Elder grew up on a farm in Dundee, Quebec where his passion for animal health developed. He went on to graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College of the University of Guelph in 2005 and then pursued a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College of the University of PEI.

In 2006, Dr. Elder moved to Ottawa and started a position in emergency medicine and critical care. Although he enjoyed the fast pace and variety of emergency medicine, he was drawn to the appeal of being a “family vet”, helping to nurture ongoing relationships between people and their pets. In 2012, Dr. Elder transitioned into a Medical Director role at a general practice, where he developed a strong interest in dental health and surgery and a true appreciation for the value of preventive care.

One of Dr. Elder’s primary goals as a veterinarian is to make clients feel comfortable and supported when it comes to making important decisions about their pets. Tailoring treatments and recommendations to meet the individual needs and objectives of his clients is something Dr. Elder sets as a priority in his daily practice.

Dr. Elder balances out his time in clinic with participation in community sports leagues (volleyball, curling and softball), feeding his passion for the performing arts (attending as many plays, ballets, orchestra and musical theatre events as possible!) and spending quality time with friends and family.
